首页 Catalytic Convertor Business Application CATALYTIC CONVERTOR BUSINESS APPLICATION Catalytic Converter Theft Mitigation Programs On October 4, 2022, the City Council approved two programs to help protect residents from catalytic converter theft. The Catalytic Converter Painting & Etching Program (“P&E Program”) would reimburse local automotive shops with $125 to paint and etch the catalytic converters of certain vehicles frequently targeted by catalytic converter thieves. The Catalytic Converter Shield Program (“Shield Program”) would provide residents a $250 credit towards the purchase and installation of a catalytic converter theft mitigation shield at local automotive shop. At this time, the City is accepting applications from local businesses who would like to participate in one or both of the programs. Both programs are designed to help local automotive repair businesses offset the economic impacts of COVID-19. The City is now accepting applications from local automotive repair businesses to participate in the catalytic converter theft mitigation programs! Catalytic Converter Painting & Etching Program Under the P&E Program, local automotive repair businesses are reimbursed $125 to paint and etch the vehicle identification number (“VIN”) on vehicles owned by Lake Forest residents. Residents will apply to participate in the program by showing proof that their vehicle is registered to a Lake Forest address and is on the City’s list of vehicles subject to frequent theft (Toyota Prius, Honda Accord, Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, etc.). Once approved, residents will be able to take their vehicle to a participating automotive repair shop. The automotive repair shop will perform the painting and etching service and submit a form to be reimbursed by the City for the work performed. The City will reimburse participating businesses $125 per vehicle serviced. Businesses can apply easily online via the link below. P&E Program Application P&E Program Guidelines P&E Program Sample Agreement Catalytic Converter Shield Program Under the Shield Program, residents apply to receive a pre-paid $250 gift card (provided by Mastercard) towards the purchase and installation of a catalytic converter theft mitigation shield (“shield”). Eligible shields include shields produced by MillerCat and Get Cat Security Businesses must already have, or be willing to form, a certified installer relationship with MillerCat or Get Cat Security to participate. Residents must coordinate with participating businesses to procure the shield and arrange for installation services. Resident is responsible for the remaining balance (if any) of the parts and labor costs associated with the shield installation after the $250 gift card is applied.
