首页 Lake Forest Receives Praise for Highway Safety Improvements Lake Forest Receives Praise for Highway Safety Improvements Posted: Friday, September 16, 2022 Installation of guardrails, reflectors, lane buffers, and rumble strips on treacherous parts of Santiago Canyon Road earned Lake Forest the top award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The County of Orange and the City partnered to design and implement safety measures after they reviewed a collection of data on traffic accidents along the highway. They launched the highway safety improvement project in 2018 and focused on measures that would enhance driver awareness, improve safety for road users (including bicyclists), and reduce the likelihood of accidents. The safety improvements were completed in April 2021. Lake Forest City Council and the Public Works department accepted the 2022 Outstanding Safety/Resilience Project Award from ASCE at the September 6 City Council meeting. This is the City’s third ASCE “Outstanding Project Award” in the past three years.
