Home Twenty-Eight Capital Improvement Projects Underway Twenty-Eight Capital Improvement Projects Underway Posted: Tuesday, August 23, 2022 Lake Forest completed 33 capital improvement projects valued at $62 million between 2019 and 2021, with 28 new projects underway now, according to a report to the City Council on August 16. The completed work includes 19 park projects, six street projects and six traffic improvements, Assistant City Engineer Doug Erdman said. Parks and streets remain the City’s top priorities. Borrego Overlook, Rancho Serrano, Regency, Sundowner, and Vintage parks are next on the upgrade list. Traffic improvements are also coming to Bake and Trabuco. The active projects total $19.5 million, Erdman said. Streets have been slurry sealed in northeast Lake Forest, while road rehabs are in design for Muirlands and Jeronimo and in the northwest corner of the City. Lighting is being designed for the pickleball courts, volleyball courts, and dog park at Portola Park, and future lighting improvements are also planned at Heroes Park. The City has several categories of Capital Improvement projects. Some are paid through City revenues and grants, while some traffic improvements are paid through the Lake Forest Traffic Mitigation fund – money paid by developers to offset the potential impacts of their projects.
