Home Government Commissions and Boards General Information and Vacancies GENERAL INFORMATION Lake Forest leaders rely on input and recommendations from members of several topic-specific commissions. Each commission is made up of five residents who are each appointed by a member of the City Council. Commissioners serve four-year terms. The City’s appointed commissions include: The Community Services Commission (formerly Parks and Recreation Commission) meets on the same week in which the City Council holds their first meeting of the month on Wednesdays and meetings commence at 6:30 p.m. The Commission reviews matters related to parks and recreation programs. The Planning Commission meets on the same week in which the City Council holds their first meeting of the month on Thursdays and meetings commence at 6:30 p.m. The Commission reviews applications for new development, proposed zoning changes and proposed land subdivisions. The Traffic and Parking Commission meets on the same week in which the City Council holds their first meeting of the month on Mondays and meetings commence at 6:30 p.m. The Commission advises the City Council on issues relating to parking and the safe and efficient movement of traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians and other modes of transportation. Click here to view. Notice - 2023 Commission Applications The City of Lake Forest is accepting applications to serve on the Traffic and Parking Commission. Applications must be submitted online using this form and must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023. There is currently one seat available on the commission.
