The City of Lake Forest, in partnership with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD), hosted the event to strengthen police-community partnerships and celebrate America’s night out against crime. The event featured demonstrations by Orange County Fire Authority's (OCFA) K9 “Freedom” and OCSD's K9 “Ketel.” OCSD’s helicopter “Duke” made a spectacular landing at the Sports Park. Mounted equestrian units, SWAT, a Harbor Patrol boat, the bomb squad, and an OCFA fire truck were among the many other exhibits to explore. With plenty of free food from amazing vendors and tons of activities, there was family fun for all ages. National Night Out is an annual event that began in 1984 to build neighborhood camaraderie and promote partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. “These partnerships are key for continuing to ensure safe neighborhoods here in Lake Forest and bringing our community together as a collective,” said Lake Forest Mayor Robert Pequeno in his opening speech.
